As you know, I love vacations. Hate the packing, always forget a toothbrush, my razor, and my favorite tank. So I look uncute and stubbly. I digress. I usually like going away with just my family. I have never been into group trips. I am always scared of the other families’ dynamics. Would they match with mine? Would their vacation rules mesh with ours?

Last week I had school orientation for all of my kids, Seventh, fifth, and third. It’s always a nerve-wracking couple of days. Will they like their teachers? Will they have friends in their classes?

When your kids have been away all summer, sometimes the parent may fantasize about them. Like, I wish they were here. We have so much fun together! I can’t wait for the activity and noise again. Then they come home, and at dinner, her oldest says, “When I have kids, I am not going to spoil them like you guys have spoiled me.” I would have more character if I weren’t spoiled.”

Now even though I live in Florida, and the only seasons we have are Hot and Not So Hot, I still enjoy the idea that everyone is supposed to shop a few things for Fall. I am realistic about my lifestyle, stick to purchasing mostly staples, and try to stay away from too many trends. If I do go trendy, I will usually buy those items in Forever 21.
